Planting for the Future ACÁ is an agricultural education association that fosters development of self-sufficiency in Mexican communities. Founded by two Canadian women, Marie Pruden and Wendy Hill, ACÁ is a registered Mexican Non-Profit organization, governed by an all-female Board of Directors. To assist Mexican communities in the experience of sustainable resource management, teaching and developing co-operative community markets and opportunities from the ground up.
100% of the net proceeds from our growing and organic cooperative efforts go to support the many ACÁ multi-cultural community programs in our area. In addition, ACÁ donates produce and time to such worthy organizations as orphanages, retirement homes and nursing facilities. ACA strives to successfully improve the quality of life in Mexican communities through hands-on training in practical organic farming using sustainable soil and water preservation practices.
The trained graduates than return to their communities where they become the trainers. This multiplier effect becomes the catalyst to development and long-term sustainable self sufficiency. ACA programs promote eco-safe solutions at the community level and provide garden development, support and ecologically sound standards which conserve natural resources.
At ACA, our non-profit learning center is supported by the generous gifts from benefactors, grants, fund-raising events and these on-going programs. The Center in Jaltepec is a fully operational organic farm focused on educating students in eco-safe organic farming, conservation methods, community garden development, modern marketing techniques and "healthy lifestyle" alternatives. ACÁ programs promote eco-safe solutions at the community level and provide garden development support incorporating ecologically sound standards which conserve natural resources. ACÁ provides on-site agricultural training programs for students, schools, international students, ecological groups and the Mexican farming community. The center and the gardens are operated by former graduates of the program, and create vital employment through the development of safe agro-based micro-economies throughout Jalisco. Located in Jaltepec, the co-op store sells organically grown produce, herbs and gourmet gift items. The store also has a botanical library and a full range of garden supplies, plants and referrals for efficient, safe, garden management. A coalition of Jalisco area growers supply organically grown produce to meet the increasing demand for safe produce. The demand for "Great Greens " is far ahead of our current ability to produce, so the future growth of self generating operating revenue is assured. With your support, ACÁ can facilitate sustainable agriculture in the local area and beyond. 100% of all the proceeds from events, the organic produce, and the cooperative, support the many ACÁ community agro-programs throughout Jalisco. ACÁ relies on your generous support. Please consider helping us as we continue fostering ecological, health and conservation improvements in Mexico. Your support is our lifeline. ACÁ is a registered Mexican Non-Profit organization. And, as a division of NPI, ACÁ can now offer the 501(c)3 charity receipts necessary for U.S. icome tax returns. |
